Description
Built in 1951 by Milwaukee Road’s Milwaukee Shops, these distinctive cars with small side panels and multiple rivet rows stand out in a crowd. 600 of these cars were built with 4’ swinging plug doors, bright orange paint and Milwaukee Road heralds for service transporting beer nationwide from the large Schlitz brewery in Milwaukee. The unusual extended sills were a trait of cars built for Schlitz service as they were used as a push point for moving the cars around the loading area with a tractor.
This model represents the “as built” variant that was in service up until the last of the class were rebuilt with larger doors around 1965.
Original numbers were 4000-4599.
Available with or without decals.
